Batiik Studio transformed a cramped 15 square meter attic apartment in Paris into a modern and functional living space. The studio created a custom modular furniture system that maximizes space and provides a comfortable living experience. The apartment boasts a clever design that incorporates a movable kitchen, a pull-out bed, and a diagonal slatted partition that enhances the sense of spaciousness.
Batiik Studio was tasked with transforming a 15 square meter attic apartment in Paris into a cool, modern space. Prior to the renovation, the attic had sloping ceilings and was dark and outdated. Now, with the help of custom-made modular furniture, the interior is functional and fully habitable. The renovation involved removing the partition walls to open up the space. The kitchen was moved to one end to allow for a larger bathroom. In addition to being moved, the kitchen was also raised onto a platform to accommodate the bed underneath. The bed, which slides out like a drawer, can also be used as a sofa. When the bed is stowed away, the kitchen counter unfolds to provide seating for four guests. A diagonal slatted partition was constructed, allowing light to pass through and creating a more open feel. The three windows allow ample natural light to illuminate the open space. Diagonal openings in the storage doors also give the illusion of more space. The bathroom is now larger, and a small table was built into the small space beside it. The project is an excellent example of how to maximize space in a small apartment, incorporating smart design solutions to create a functional and stylish living environment.
