aura object showroom is a classical home furnishing art exhibition space located in Shanghai, China. Designed by small-big architecture studio, the space features a continuous rhythm and a light and transparent design that seamlessly blends with the historical details of the furniture on display.

The aura object showroom in Shanghai is a classical home furnishing art exhibition space located on Songyuan Road. The furniture on display has undergone the test of time and is imbued with historical details, making each piece feel like a work of art. These art-like furniture pieces are self-contained, and even when placed independently, they can create rich visual effects. Therefore, in order to better display them, the layout of the exhibition hall avoids the simultaneous display of a large number of exhibits as much as possible. One side of the exhibition hall is a continuous floor-to-ceiling window that is consistent with the window grid on the original building façade. The walls extend from the windows, serving as a backdrop for the furniture while also being an extension of the display space. When viewed from the city street, they cut and frame a series of complete and independent display windows.

Unlike the usual practice, the newly added gypsum board on the wall does not completely enclose the original concrete brick wall of the building structure, but deliberately exposes and emphasizes the thickness of the structural wall, and the material relationship between the finished gypsum board and the brick wall is directly presented. This classic design technique is used to express the light and transparent rhythm of a modern store and a continuous passage.

The exhibition hall pays homage to the design techniques of European arcades, and the space repeatedly features continuous archway elements, making the architectural language more coherent in the space, while its presence does not overshadow the exhibits.
The aura object showroom is a testament to the power of design to create a space that is both beautiful and functional. The space is designed to showcase the furniture on display in the best possible light, while also providing a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for visitors.
