The HEYSHOP New Retail Brand Collection Experience Store in Shanghai is a testament to the evolving landscape of online-to-offline commerce. Designed by Daylab Studio, this unique space challenges traditional retail conventions by embracing flexibility, data-driven decision making, and a seamless integration of online and offline experiences.

Heyshop is not a traditional store. It is an online-merge-offline (OMO) new retail collection store driven by big data. The store design is full of subversions of traditional design and in line with the new OMO model. The store’s design is a direct reflection of the brand’s philosophy, aiming to create a seamless and engaging experience for shoppers.

One of the most striking aspects of the store’s design is its innovative use of pegboard, a versatile display system that allows for easy rearrangement and adaptation to changing inventory needs. The designers have taken a traditional material and injected a fresh perspective, creating a display system that is both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional. The pegboard is a prime example of how the designers have challenged conventional design approaches and embraced the dynamic nature of the new retail landscape.
The store also features a unique “cloud warehouse” concept, where the warehouse is located off-site and integrated seamlessly into the shopping experience. This approach allows for a more flexible and efficient inventory management system, while also providing shoppers with access to a wide range of products. The warehouse’s facade is made of semi-transparent embossed glass, which provides a glimpse into the organized and dynamic world of the “cloud warehouse”.
The changing order of the white boxes, representing different products, conveys the concept of the cloud warehouse. The store design also cleverly incorporates a row of fitting rooms along the open storefront, strategically dividing the space into a front section dedicated to home decor and a back section dedicated to clothing and luggage. The fitting rooms are strategically positioned to allow for easy access and privacy, while also seamlessly blending into the overall design aesthetic. The placement of the fitting rooms highlights the designer’s commitment to providing a comfortable and enjoyable shopping experience.
The integration of seven fitting rooms into a 210-square-meter store is a testament to the designer’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and engaging shopping experience. The designers have created a balance between providing ample space for shoppers to explore the products and offering a comfortable and private experience within the fitting rooms.
