Nestled in the heart of Ningbo’s new CBD, the 1987·蘭 Beauty Anti-Aging Center is a glass-enclosed sanctuary designed by Wang WeiHang Interior Design to offer respite from the frenetic pace of city life. The L-shaped structure, positioned on a street-facing site, acts as a visual beacon, drawing visitors in with its inviting facade and subtly layered interiors.

Upon entering the reception area, one is immediately struck by the calming presence of nature. A series of wooden latticework panels, reminiscent of beachside or cliff-top cottages, filters the sunlight, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow that washes across the space. This clever arrangement effectively mitigates visual distractions from the bustling street outside. Lush greenery strategically placed throughout the space further enhances the sense of being immersed in nature, while a carefully curated soundscape – a gentle breeze, rustling leaves, and the occasional birdcall – completes the immersive experience.

The reception area features a central sand and stone floor, inviting visitors to shed their worries and reconnect with the earth. Comfortable, light-colored sofas invite guests to relax and unwind, while the interplay of light, sound, sight, and scent creates a calming ambience that allows for a moment of peace amidst the chaos.
As evening descends, the light transitions from natural to artificial, with strategically placed candles replacing the daytime sun. The flickering candlelight casts a warm glow across the space, evoking the feeling of fireflies dancing in the night, and further amplifying the sanctuary’s ethereal quality. The reception area’s central island bar, serving as both a visual focal point and the backdrop for the brand’s identity, anchors the space. Behind the bar, the space seamlessly transitions into the functional areas of the spa, including a tea room, a makeup room, and a skin testing room, each designed to seamlessly blend into the surrounding landscape.
Beyond the reception area, a long, welcoming passage leads visitors to the private and tranquil spa spaces. These spaces, designed with the guest’s sensory experience in mind, prioritize comfort and tranquility over ostentatious design or dazzling lighting.
The spa interiors, featuring a soothing palette of black semi-polished lychee-skin tiles and warm wood panels, create an atmosphere of calm and serenity. The carefully designed layout and thoughtful details prioritize the guest’s comfort and well-being, providing a sense of sanctuary and rejuvenation. With its understated elegance and meticulous attention to detail, 1987·蘭 offers a sanctuary from the demands of city life, inviting guests to experience a moment of calm and serenity.
