Apple The Exchange TRX in Kuala Lumpur boasts a unique layered roof and a seamless connection with nature, offering a sophisticated retail experience.

An Architectural Gem in Kuala Lumpur

Nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s new Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) financial district, Apple The Exchange TRX stands as a testament to innovative architectural design. The store’s most striking feature is its unique three-dimensional layered roof, composed of stacked solar shading blades that seem to float above the landscape. This design not only provides a visually captivating element but also serves a functional purpose by managing solar radiation in Malaysia’s tropical climate. At night, the roof glows warmly, transforming into a beacon within the development.

A Seamless Connection with Nature

Foster + Partners’ design seamlessly connects the TRX mall’s central atrium with a rooftop park, blurring the lines between the built environment and the natural world. A vibrant tropical garden and a communal lawn wrap around the store’s upper level, allowing daylight and greenery to permeate the soaring interior. This integration of nature enhances the visitor experience, creating a tranquil and inviting atmosphere within the bustling city.

Innovative Design and Spatial Organization

The store spans three levels, each offering a unique spatial experience. A glazed oculus at the center of the roof allows soft daylight to filter in, while dynamic lighting further enhances the ambiance. A beautifully crafted quartz and glass staircase and a custom-glazed elevator connect the floors, with tiered landings providing unique perspectives of the space. The Forum, located on a floating deck, and the avenue with display tables on the lower level ensure a smooth flow of visitors throughout the store.

Sophisticated Materiality and Luxurious Ambiance

Apple The Exchange TRX is characterized by its use of high-quality materials. Elegant natural stone walls, sleek polished stainless-steel columns, light Terrazzo floors, and a warm timber ceiling create a luxurious and welcoming environment. This sophisticated material palette enhances the overall retail experience, making each visit a sensory delight.
