B-monster Boxing Club Shanghai / CROX闊合 / Shanghai, China

CROX闊合 transforms the boxing club into a cave-like space, blending modern and primitive styles.

by 24designclub

The B-monster boxing club in Shanghai, designed by CROX闊合, is a cave-like space that blends modern and primitive styles. The design features a unique space sequence of an alien cave, a fiery red changing room, and a dreamlike training room, creating a complete immersive experience. The club’s exterior resembles a large concrete block with openings that break down the barriers between people and the walls.

B-monster, a boxing club that originated in New York, is a leader in the global fitness industry, known for its motto of “never compromise” and “burning with fire.” The Shanghai branch of B-monster is located in the B1 level, Room 011-013 of Poly Time Square, Xuhui District. The design, by CROX闊合, aims to break through the thick walls of the urban concrete jungle and allow people to release their physical and mental tension in the darkness. The boxing club is designed as a space sequence with a sense of ritual: an alien cave, a fiery red changing room, and a dreamlike training room, all connected to create a complete immersive experience.

The exterior of the B-monster Shanghai concept store resembles a large concrete block, with openings of various sizes carved into it. This not only enriches the form but also breaks down the isolation, cleverly reducing the distance between people and the walls. The carved openings provide functions for resting, experiencing, and displaying. The largest opening is the entrance, symbolizing the entrance to an adventure.

Upon entering, visitors are transported to the prehistoric LASCAUX CAVE, echoing the origin of human painting civilization by showcasing graffiti works by New York street artist Alexander Kaletski. This blend of modern and primitive styles, a fusion of Shanghai’s unique style, guides people forward, reaching the turn of the cave. A sunny atrium greets them, offering a different experience. As anticipation builds, visitors enter the fiery red changing room, and a sense of excitement begins to spread, filling the air with a mysterious restlessness.
