A Tiny Coffee Shop With A Floating Roof

by 24designclub

This small, 25-square-meter coffee shop in Shanghai’s Fengshengli area, Birdie Cup Coffee, is designed by F.O.G. Architecture. It is a space that evokes emotions, and the designers use minimalist techniques and a floating roof to create a sense of lightness and dreaminess.

Located in Shanghai’s Fengshengli area, a bustling district filled with historic shikumen buildings and trendy shops, Birdie Cup Coffee is a tiny, 25-square-meter coffee shop that stands out with its unique design. The designers at F.O.G. Architecture were challenged with creating a space that could evoke emotions and stand out in a crowded environment. Their solution was to create a space that is both minimalist and dreamlike, using a combination of glass, frosted metal, and a floating roof to achieve a sense of lightness and airiness. The designers opted for a minimalist approach, creating a space that is dominated by gray and white. The use of glass and frosted metal throughout the space creates a sense of transparency and depth. The space is further softened by the use of soft lighting and curved surfaces. The curved roof, which is the most striking feature of the design, was a challenging element to create. The designers had to work closely with engineers and construction crews to ensure that the roof was structurally sound and visually appealing. The floating roof, which is designed to resemble a cloud, is intended to evoke a sense of calm and tranquility. It is a reminder that the coffee shop is a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The designers also included a small, glowing “bird” sign on the wall, which is a nod to the shop’s name. The designers have created a space that is both beautiful and functional. The coffee shop is a welcome respite from the city, a place where people can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in a calm and inviting environment.
