Design Concept
The Chengdu Louis Castle Qingtong Hotel, a meticulous recreation of the Château de Fontainebleau, emerges as a testament to French classical architecture. Completed in 2023, this project involved a decade-long endeavor by a renowned French royal castle design family. CCD, the interior design firm, took on the challenge of revitalizing the hotel’s interiors, opting for a design approach that juxtaposes modern aesthetics with classical elements. This strategy allows for a dynamic interplay between contemporary design trends and the building’s historical context, evident in the use of clean lines and bold color palettes.
Interior Design
CCD’s design philosophy centers on creating a space that is both pure and expressive. By stripping away ornate embellishments and employing simple lines, the interior design achieves a sense of refined minimalism. The color scheme primarily revolves around pristine white and elegant black, with accents of vibrant red lacquer panels injecting a touch of human warmth and playfulness. This careful selection of materials and colors ensures the space remains unburdened by its historical weight, allowing guests to experience a sense of timeless elegance.
Spatial Arrangement
The hotel’s spatial arrangement seamlessly integrates modern and classical elements. The lobby features a striking contrast between the vintage patterned floor and the modern black and white striped screen, creating a bold visual statement. Furnishings further enhance this interplay, with sofas incorporating black and white tones accented by vibrant red, echoing the artwork adorning the walls. This design choice creates a dynamic and engaging atmosphere while maintaining a sense of harmony and balance.
Restaurant Design
The restaurant design embraces natural light and transparency, creating a bright and airy ambiance. The open kitchen and dining area are strategically positioned to maximize sunlight penetration, while clean lines and a muted color palette contribute to a sense of tranquility. Every corner of the restaurant, from the bar to the walls, is meticulously designed, allowing guests to bask in the soft glow of natural light.
Guest Room Design
The guest rooms showcase the romantic characteristics of French design, with a strong emphasis on arched doorways and windows. This architectural element, a hallmark of French design, is seamlessly integrated throughout the rooms, creating a sense of continuity and visual interest. The design further incorporates a blend of Eastern and Western traditional elements alongside contemporary aesthetics. The use of arches, complemented by warm wood tones, creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
Lighting Design
The lighting design plays a crucial role in shaping the mood and atmosphere of the hotel. Carefully selected light fixtures, with their unique forms and placement, enhance the overall aesthetic and contribute to a sense of intimacy and relaxation. The interplay of light and shadow adds another layer of visual interest, highlighting the textures and details of the interior.
