Design Concepts and Goals: Creating a Climatically Conducive Environment
The design team’s primary goal was to create a villa that could effectively adapt to Dubai’s harsh desert climate. A detailed study of the sun’s path and the summer and winter solstices ensured that the building’s design was optimized for a comfortable living experience, no matter the time of year. The design team also employed natural materials, such as adobe, and hand-chiselled sandstone from the deserts of Rajasthan in India, which contribute to the overall aesthetic and contribute to a cooler living environment. The use of perforated Corten steel screens in both interior and exterior façades cuts down direct heat radiation and promotes airflow. The inclusion of high turrets ensures that natural light penetrates into the interiors while avoiding excessive glare.
