Project Background
The InstaDesign 80㎡ apartment project, located in Poland, was undertaken by Butterfly Studio to fulfill the desires of a young couple with a passion for vibrant aesthetics and modern art in their living space. The couple envisioned a home that would not only be durable but also visually appealing for years to come, reflecting their unique personalities and artistic preferences.
Design Concept and Objectives
The design concept revolved around creating a “summer dopamine” atmosphere, infusing the linear space with energy and vibrancy. This was achieved through a bold and playful use of color, incorporating elements of modern art and interior design trends. The designers aimed to integrate the couple’s love for terrazzo, a material that appears throughout the apartment in various forms, adding a touch of brightness and playfulness.
Spatial Layout and Planning
The apartment’s layout is unconventional, particularly in the kitchen area. The kitchen cabinets extend to the ceiling, creating a unified and warm cooking space. Instead of a traditional island, a round dining table is used, maximizing the functionality of the space. The cooking zone is strategically placed against the wall, flanked by glass doors leading to the garden, enhancing the sense of openness and connection with the outdoors.
Interior Design and Aesthetics
The apartment’s color palette features a soft pink as the base tone, which balances brightness and subtlety. This is complemented by splashes of vibrant colors, creating a dynamic and visually engaging environment. Art pieces, such as abstract paintings by Polish artist Aga Pietrzykowska and BARVA vases from the Pani Jurek collection, are strategically placed throughout the apartment, showcasing the homeowners’ artistic sensibilities.
Social and Cultural Influences
The apartment’s design reflects a blend of modern Polish design and vintage elements, creating a unique and culturally relevant space. The selection of furniture, materials, and art pieces reflects the homeowners’ appreciation for both contemporary trends and the rich artistic heritage of Poland.
