Modern minimalist design defines the SOHOO Xunyang Technology Headquarters, a testament to innovative commercial building design in China.

Project Background and Design Brief

Commissioned by SOHOO Xunyang Technology, Taihe Southern Design embarked on creating an 8,000㎡ headquarters in Dongguan, China, near the Songshan Lake Science City. The project focuses on the first floor, encompassing the exhibition hall and lobby, reflecting the company’s cutting-edge technological identity through a modern minimalist commercial building design aesthetic. This design approach emphasizes clean lines, geometric forms, and a spacious, light-filled environment to showcase SOHOO Xunyang’s innovative spirit.

Design Concept and Objectives

The design aimed to encapsulate SOHOO Xunyang’s brand essence through spatial narratives. Minimalist aesthetics guide the design, leveraging interconnected volumes, expansive pathways, and a rhythmic flow of space. The existing transparent and open structure of the building’s first floor, along with its generous ceiling height, provided a unique advantage, fostering a sense of spaciousness and natural light. The use of a simple white and gray color palette enhances the overall atmosphere, creating a versatile and sophisticated backdrop for a modern minimalist commercial building design.

Functional Layout and Spatial Planning

The lobby area features a double-height reception space, symbolizing the manufacturing industry’s precision and professionalism. Floor-to-ceiling windows maximize natural light, visually merging the external natural environment with the internal structural design. A curved reception desk acts as a dividing element, guiding the flow towards the exhibition hall showcasing company culture and products and towards the elevator lobby leading to office areas. The layout is carefully planned to create a seamless visitor experience within the modern minimalist commercial building design.

Aesthetic and Material Palette

The SOHOO Xunyang exhibition hall further exemplifies the minimalist commercial building design philosophy. A circular cinema room with a central digital screen forms the visual heart of the space, presenting the brand’s story, core products, and technological advancements through multimedia interactions. Display areas are thoughtfully integrated, including seemingly floating columns that serve as product showcases. The minimalist lines, from the spatial facade to the product display stands, underscore the brand’s intelligent efficiency and harmonize with the overall modern aesthetic. The materials used, such as imported artificial stone, white fluorocarbon paint, stone brick, brushed steel, and emulsion paint, further enhance the sophisticated and minimalist feel of the commercial building design.

Lighting Design and User Experience

Natural light plays a vital role in the exhibition hall’s design. The bright, open space benefits from ample natural light flowing through vertical windows and curtains, creating a visually transparent environment. Artificial lighting is strategically used to highlight products and guide visitor circulation, enhancing the user experience within this minimalist commercial building design. The interplay of light and shadow accentuates the clean lines and geometric forms, adding depth and dynamism to the space.
