The Hundred, a residential tower overlooking Forest Park in St. Louis, is named for its address at 100 Kingshighway. The building, Studio Gang’s first project in the city, rises over 380 feet (116 meters) and comprises 316 units, spanning 520,000 square feet (48,310 square meters). The tower features a mix of retail, amenities, parking, and residential apartments offering views of the park to the west and the Gateway Arch to the east. Each apartment features a corner living room with floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the interiors with natural light. Every four floors are stacked as a group, and the facade is angled to create generous outdoor spaces at the top of each group, providing terraces for one-quarter of the apartments and shared amenity space for the residents on a green roof platform. “The building reflects the changing light and weather of Forest Park, offering a dynamic backdrop for foliage and snow,” Studio Gang explains. The building’s leaf-shaped plan and tiered volumes maximize its environmental performance to leverage opportunities afforded by orientation and environment, reducing the overall energy load and enhancing occupant comfort.
