Project Background: A Nod to the Past

This apartment renovation project by Elzhbeta Chegarova stemmed from a desire to preserve the cherished memories of the homeowner’s childhood. The client spent their formative years in this space, filled with lush greenery and comforting nostalgia. The homeowner also had a strong attachment to numerous vintage belongings, including books, photo albums, and their grandmother’s tableware. However, the original apartment layout lacked the comforts and functionality of contemporary living, necessitating a comprehensive renovation while respecting the sentimental value of the past. The tag of apartment interior design with vintage furniture defines the character of this project.

Design Concept and Goals: Blending Tradition with Modernity

The design concept revolved around seamlessly merging the past with the present, creating an interior space that was both stylish and comfortably functional for modern living. The interior design with vintage furniture needed to harmoniously incorporate the client’s cherished possessions while elevating the overall aesthetic and improving functionality. The project’s primary aim was to craft a welcoming environment that reflected the client’s personality and fond memories while incorporating modern amenities and comforts. This approach also aimed to foster a warm and inviting atmosphere within the space, emphasizing the importance of traditional interior design in the modern context.

Functional Layout and Spatial Planning: Optimizing Space and Flow

The renovation involved optimizing the layout to maximize the limited space and enhance the flow between different zones. This included thoughtful spatial planning to accommodate distinct areas such as a dining area, living area, bedroom, and bathroom. The focus was on maintaining a sense of spaciousness despite the compact dimensions. The design incorporates vintage furniture, strategically placed to maximize the spatial experience while seamlessly integrating into the modern layout. A harmonious balance between traditional design elements and modern functionality was carefully curated for this project.

Exterior Design and Aesthetics: Retaining the Charm

While the main focus was on the interior, the design also considered the overall aesthetic harmony of the apartment within its surroundings. The exterior facade retained its original charm, preserving the building’s character within the context of its neighborhood. This tag of apartment interior design in a traditional building is a key element of the project. The renovation preserved the traditional design elements of the building’s architecture and incorporated vintage furniture while integrating it into the modern design features and functionality.
