Betao Pinlin (Shanghai) Architectural Consulting Co., Ltd., masterfully intertwined traditional philosophies with contemporary architecture, crafting a space that embodies tranquility and harmony. The design unfolds as a captivating narrative of ‘hiddenness,’ drawing inspiration from the poetic essence of Eastern natural landscapes. 
Upon arrival, a grand, champagne-gold entrance, reminiscent of ancient city walls constructed from Qin bricks and Han tiles, sets the stage for a journey into a world of serene seclusion. A meandering path leads visitors past a tranquil pond, where flowing water and towering pine trees evoke a sense of homecoming.
The architectural form itself exudes a subtle elegance, resembling a rectangular box composed of smaller squares. Clean lines and meticulous craftsmanship are further emphasized by the delicate chamfered edges of the roof and the flowing curves of the ultra-clear glass façade. This interplay of sharp angles and softened edges encapsulates the project’s design ethos – a harmonious balance between the bold and the understated.
The façade incorporates traditional Chinese landscape painting as a key design element, seamlessly integrated with modern materials. Deconstructed, simplified, and reconstructed, this motif is realized as a stunning U-shaped glass elevation. The interior of the building is a testament to Betao Pinlin’s masterful command of spatial storytelling. The design gracefully draws visitors inwards, culminating in a breathtaking sunken courtyard that embodies the essence of ‘a garden within a mansion, and a garden within a garden.’
This masterful orchestration of space is further enhanced by the liberal use of ultra-clear glass, which seamlessly connects the interior and exterior, creating a harmonious flow. The design embraces the traditional Chinese virtue of ‘hidden beauty,’ where the true essence of a space is revealed only through gradual exploration.
The project’s architects meticulously employed ultra-clear glass, supported by glass ribs and adorned with champagne-gold metal accents. The meticulous black sealing details further highlight the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The expansive glass walls on either side of the long corridors lead to the negotiation area and the swimming pool, offering stunning views of the sunken courtyard. The negotiation area exudes an air of privacy, while the pool offers a refreshing escape, creating a sense of tranquility and well-being.
Ascending to the upper level, a scenic walkway provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, accessible via a staircase that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding environment.
The sunken courtyard, a harmonious blend of natural elements and architectural design, evokes a serene retreat, inviting visitors to connect with nature. The cascading landscape, reminiscent of mountain formations, creates a sense of tranquility and depth. The courtyard, visible through the glass walls, offers a tranquil oasis within the bustling city, fostering a sense of harmony between humanity and nature.
