YKC II invites diners to experience the world of seafood through a contemporary lens.

Located in the heart of Quanzhou, China, YKC II is a flagship concept restaurant designed by PLOTCREATIVE. The restaurant is a celebration of seafood, blending modern cuisine with traditional Chinese elements. The design team drew inspiration from the traditional Chinese steamer basket, translating its geometric patterns and functional principles into a contemporary dining experience.

The restaurant’s interior design is a masterpiece of visual and spatial interplay. Geometrically patterned floors in concrete evoke the rhythm of the sea, while uniquely shaped steam baskets are incorporated into the walls, adding a playful and functional touch. To expand the sense of space, the designers incorporated geometric mirrored stainless steel and copper patterns throughout.

Walls and columns are artfully cut with color and copper patterns, inspired by the flowing lines of waves. The lighting also reflects this theme, with spotlights arranged in a wave-like pattern and a unique blue hue. The restaurant’s color palette is carefully curated, with a subtle contrast between the black and white seating and the concrete floor. This contrast is further emphasized by the alternating arrangement of two contrasting dining chairs, creating a playful and relaxed atmosphere.
The design incorporates natural elements, such as wood and copper, throughout the space. These materials are used in geometric features, adding warmth and texture to the restaurant’s overall aesthetic. The ceiling and reception area feature unique wooden and copper frames, creating a sense of sophistication. A touch of artistic whimsy is added by the inclusion of local artwork, featuring suspended fish made from white and gold ceramics. These elements evoke the ocean’s charm and add depth to the dining experience. The private dining room features a soothing blue color palette, inspired by the calmness of a lake. This calming ambiance is further enhanced by the gentle wave-like patterns that adorn the walls and ceiling.
YKC II’s design is a testament to the power of seafood theme and modern design. The restaurant provides a unique and memorable dining experience for guests, while simultaneously showcasing the beauty of Chinese culture and culinary traditions.
