Embracing the Essence of Life’s Beginnings
Shuiguo · Tangquan Life in Shanghai, designed by DJX Design, is a spa concept that takes inspiration from the purity and gentleness of life’s beginnings. Referencing the Tao Te Ching’s concept of the “mysterious feminine” and “root of heaven and earth”, the design aims to create an urban oasis where visitors can shed their worries and reconnect with their primal selves. This urban spa experience offers a unique journey of rejuvenation and tranquility, blending the organic forms of canyons, caves, and the womb with contemporary design elements. The design philosophy centers on providing a sanctuary where guests can immerse themselves in the healing essence of life-giving waters, fostering a sense of safety, reliance, nourishment, and reverence. The project’s plaza-style layout and naturally organic spatial design contribute to a soothing, restorative atmosphere. natural organic architecture, soothing restorative atmosphere, urban spa experience, urban oasis, healing essence
An Immersive Journey Through Natural Forms and Sensory Tales
The spa’s design incorporates various mediums to engage all senses, focusing on themes of fluidity, elegance, and intimacy. The grand, symmetrical space with a subdued color palette sets the stage for a soulful journey. The ceiling meanders like a flowing stream, while arched walls create an interior architecture that evokes a sense of being enveloped within a womb-like structure. Light dances on the mosaic surfaces, creating a captivating interplay of color and texture. Along the central light band, elongated stairs connect different levels, guiding visitors towards the enigmatic depths of their inner selves. This immersive journey through natural forms and sensory tales provides a sanctuary from the urban environment, promoting a dialogue with the origins of life. immersive journey, sensory tales, urban environment, natural forms, subdued color palette
Unlocking the Inner Sanctum: Space-Time Illusions and Functional Design
Beyond its visual appeal, the design seamlessly integrates functionality with diverse spaces like sleeping pods, a dynamic gaming zone, and a Shuiguo store. The sleeping pod area resembles a black and white dreamscape, where geometric blocks and mirrored ceilings create a sense of depth and order. Subtle lighting guides visitors towards this secluded sanctuary, while light dances between walls, creating a meditative atmosphere. The Shuiguo store features a grid structure that adds depth to the space, complemented by soft lighting. Wooden display racks and metal platforms provide tactile contrast, while sculptural seats echo the artwork on the walls. These spaces offer a holistic experience, blending relaxation with entertainment and retail, catering to the needs of modern urban dwellers. meditative atmosphere, holistic experience, urban dwellers, relaxation, entertainment
Contemporary Design Elements and Emotional Resonance
A futuristic smoking area is defined by a purple halo cascading from the elongated ceiling, featuring neon logos and transparent modern seats. The washroom is bathed in a soft blue-pink hue, creating a sci-fi ambiance. Mirrored materials enhance spatial symmetry, blurring the lines between reality and illusion. These contemporary design elements, combined with the overall sensory experience, contribute to a profound emotional resonance. The project demonstrates how architecture and interior design can evoke primal memories and foster a sense of connection with the healing power of water, offering a unique perspective on contemporary spa design and urban wellbeing. contemporary design elements, emotional resonance, urban wellbeing, spa design, sensory experience
