A Dream Weaving Space: Prioritizing User Experience in Showroom Design

by 24designclub

MOOI TIMELESS designs a serene and engaging showroom for SIILI Jili Woodwork, prioritizing user experience and spatial harmony.

Project Background

MOOI TIMELESS, founded in 2021, embarked on a collaborative journey with SIILI Jili Woodwork to craft a unique showroom experience in Zhengzhou, China. The design brief emphasized prioritizing user experience above all else, seeking to create a space that resonated with visitors on an emotional level while seamlessly showcasing SIILI’s exquisite woodwork. The 380㎡ space needed to transcend the traditional showroom format and become an immersive environment fostering relaxation and connection.

Design Philosophy and Objectives

The core design philosophy revolved around creating a “dream weaving” atmosphere. MOOI TIMELESS aimed to blur the lines between a showroom and a welcoming home, enabling visitors to envision the woodwork within familiar, everyday contexts. This approach sought to evoke a sense of comfort and ease, enhancing the engagement with the products. The use of white, semi-transparent curtains serves a dual purpose: filtering the bustling cityscape while softly illuminating the interior, creating a sense of serenity within the showroom.

Functional Layout and Spatial Planning

The showroom’s spatial journey unfolds from a compressed elevator lobby, leading into a spacious corridor. This corridor acts as the central spine, connecting the office spaces to the left and the display areas to the right. Strategic placement of greenery allows for visual connections between zones, while direct access to the social kitchen area encourages interaction and a sense of community. The interconnected yet distinct display areas offer versatility for various events and daily needs.

Exterior Design and Aesthetics

The design’s aesthetic focus leans towards minimalism and purity. White semi-transparent curtains diffuse natural light, washing the space in a soft glow and obscuring the view of adjacent high-rises. This creates a sense of separation from the urban clamor, allowing visitors to focus on the craftsmanship of the woodwork. The incorporation of diverse furnishings, from traditional Chinese furniture to modern pieces, further enhances the inclusive atmosphere, signaling openness and accessibility.

Materials and Details

The selection of materials and detailing plays a crucial role in shaping the overall user experience. The combination of natural wood, light-colored fabrics, and carefully curated furnishings contributes to a welcoming environment. The designers carefully balanced traditional and contemporary elements, fostering a sense of timelessness and sophistication.

Social and Cultural Impact

SIILI Jili Woodwork’s showroom goes beyond the conventional retail experience, fostering a sense of community and cultural exchange. The integration of diverse furniture styles and the focus on user well-being reflects a broader societal shift towards spaces that prioritize comfort and emotional connection.
