The Xinyi Yang Residence, a 139㎡ apartment located in Taiwan, was a renovation project undertaken by The Designer 01. The clients, the Yang family, desired a home that offered both tranquility and a sense of connection to the earth, reflecting a shift in modern living preferences towards more flexible and engaging spaces.
Design Concept and Objectives
The Designer 01 approached the project with a focus on creating a “borderless dreamscape.” This was achieved by using a minimalist design language with a palette of warm wood tones and muted wall colors, fostering a sense of calm and serenity. Fluidity and openness were central to the design, achieved through the seamless integration of spaces and the use of dynamic lines that guide the eye through the apartment.
Functional Layout and Space Planning
A key feature of the design is the continuous platform that extends from the TV wall to the sofa area, unifying the living room into a singular, flowing space. Low, expansive seating encourages a close connection with the floor, inviting relaxation and informal gatherings. Design Concept and Materials
The Chengxu apartment embraces a minimalist aesthetic with a focus on creating a unified and harmonious space. The walls, ceiling, and floor are treated as a continuous surface, painted in a soothing grey tone to enhance the natural, earthy feel. Integrated, concealed storage minimizes visual clutter, allowing for a more immersive experience within the apartment.
Rounded Forms and Spatial Flow
A defining feature of the Chengxu project is the use of curved glass elements to soften corners and create gentle transitions between spaces.
