Ben Adams Architects has designed a new office for Monotype in London, using decorative details to reflect the company’s creativity. The global font business, known for producing Gill Sans and Times New Roman, and distributing modern fonts such as Helvetica and Frutiger, needed a larger office to accommodate its expanding workforce and support its collaborative work style.
A scalable space that could be expanded to accommodate the overall number and, more importantly, a space suitable for different working environments: open plan, but with clearly defined quiet spaces and areas to unwind and collaborate.
The new 330 square meter space, specifically designed for 32 workstations, is versatile and adaptable. Custom plywood joinery separates the workspace from the meeting spaces, which will accommodate additional workstations in the future. Wanting to tell a story of a company that combines creativity and art with technology, the architects partnered with SEA Design to create an environment that inspires employees, collaborators and clients.
