Nine Squares Plaza / PRODUCTORA / Tlalnepantla de Baz, Mexico

PRODUCTORA transforms a hilltop into a vibrant public space with nine distinct squares.

by 24designclub

The “Nine Squares” Plaza, designed by PRODUCTORA, is a public space located in the El Tenayo residential neighborhood of Tlalnepantla de Baz, Mexico. The project involved the transformation of an existing hilltop, previously an open public space. PRODUCTORA’s proposal involved constructing nine 20m x 20m squares, strategically placed on the existing topography. Each square serves a specific purpose, catering to diverse community needs. These include a civic square with fluttering flags, a shaded square adorned with greenery, a children’s playground, a square equipped with benches, a multifaceted triangular pavilion, a skating rink, outdoor fitness equipment, and two ball courts with spectator stands. The site is enclosed by surrounding walkways and a 2.5-meter-wide running track. Staircases and ramps connect the squares and walkways, ensuring accessibility for all. The project also encompassed the renovation of walkways, streetlights, flowerbeds, and street furniture. This thoughtful design, with its flexible use of materials and colors, creates a visually engaging and stimulating environment, making it a valuable addition to the community.
